Man Nabbed In Town Of Poughkeepsie Shop Rite Robbery

A 28-year-old man was arrested for robbery and assault after attacking a Shop Rite employee who attempted to stop him from stealing.

Antonio Locket of Poughkeepsie was arrested around Friday, Aug. 10, after Town of Poughkeepsie officers responded to the Shop Rite at 1895 South Road for a report of a shoplifter, said Town of Poughkeepsie Lt. Brian Wagner.

While officers were en route to the store it was reported that Locket had threatened an employee by brandishing a knife, Wagner said.

An investigation revealed, no knife had been displayed, but a store employee sustained a broken finger while attempting to stop Locket from fleeing store with the merchandise, police said.

Officers located Locket in the area of Route 9D and took him into custody.

He was charged with felony robbery, assault, and resisting arrest and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $25,000 cash $50,000 bond.
